Just As I Thought

Burgeoning market for proofreaders

“The Fight Againt Obesity.”
That’s what they were promoting today on The Today Show with a poorly spelled graphic across the bottom.
And yesterday, I noticed this:

Every Metrorail map, in every different configuration, has this typo on it.

Am I just too critical do you think? Does it matter that no one seems to be able to spell or proofread their work anymore? That big companies just throw stuff out into the world without checking it carefully?

  • I feel your pain. I’m a graphic designer at the World Bank (please don’t hate me). I have to walk through another division on my way to the elevator, and they have a poster that talks about how many “paticipants” will be involved in a particular event. Drives me nuts every time I see it.
