There’s something to be said for editing

This happens all too frequently, and makes me wonder if CNN.com has incompetent editors and webmasters–or if they just allow a content management system to put their home page together:

Or, perhaps, they’re just catering to our voyeuristic tendencies.
What, you say? That’s just a fluke? Well, take a look further down today’s page, and you’ll see:

  • Yeah, I see that all the time now, and not just at CNN.com: headlines followed by the generic report link “watch” or “video,” which of course link to news reports and not the events themselves (usually). They need to rethink how they design and present that kind of information.
