So, there I am, sitting in front of my house yakking on the phone about my crappy day, when I hear this strange sound — a rumble, sort of like a helicopter, but not as sharp.
Then I looked up.
Hovering right over my house was the Goodyear blimp. So close I could have thrown something at it.
By the time I ran inside and found my camera, it had drifted away, but here’s a glimpse of the flying object…
Update, Saturday March 24: The Blimp Is Back
Sounding like a dozen lawnmowers floating over my house, the blimp made a return appearance over my neighborhood this afternoon around 3pm. This time, I had my camera within reach… I know, it’s not a big deal, but I don’t see blimps over my house every day!
I could have gotten even more shots — it hovered over our neighborhood all night, presumably for March Madness over at the arena. It was like a lawnmower flying over the house for hours and hours.
D’oh! I saw it this afternoon when it was over Oakland… it looked like it had just flown over the A’s stadium and was headed south… it might have been going to fly over the HP Pavilion for the basketball games today. I had a digital camera on the back seat in my briefcase but wasn’t about to stop on 880 to get it. Cloudless blue sky in Oakland at the time and it would have been a nice shot… Glad somebody got a pic!
