I’m so excited right now: there’s a thunderstorm moving in to the Santa Clara Valley. Now, a few years ago, before I moved away from Washington, DC, this would not have been very significant (although I would still have been excited because I enjoy thunderstorms).
But here in the Valley of the Heart’s Delight, rain is rare and thunderstorms are rarer still. I have been here since May 2005, and this is the first thunderstorm we’ve had in all that time.
So far, just two rumbles of thunder. But it was like music to my ears.
Meanwhile, I am often amused that anyone bothers with weather radar here, since there is never any weather worth being warned about. This afternoon, for the first time, I was giddy with that old excitement that comes from watching the radar and following the storm as it makes its way through. Nothing as active and interesting as a summer storm in DC with the associated tornado watches and high winds, but better than nothing I suppose!
