Here’s my take on this:
1) This guy is complaining because he isn’t being taken care of for the rest of his life by the military, even though he quit before his benefits would have been vested.
2) He’s no longer in the military but he complains that his family can’t access the base amenities.
3) He says he fears for his family’s safety because he was the Bin Laden shooter – and then comes out to do an interview. Who knew who the shooter was before he did that?
It seems to me that this guy figured he was going to get rich for what he did, quit the military, and now finds out what a lot of others have: making snap decisions is a bad idea.
MEANWHILE: it does open some people’s eyes to the reality of what happens when you leave the military. You’ve been part of a system that, however poorly, takes care of you. The real world isn’t like that. There are many millions of people in this country who worry about eating, about a roof over their heads, and about their safety. Welcome to the real world.
