At the inauguration of the Donald Trump Retribution era, there was no end of bullet points on the total insanity people have turned the country into. Let’s just quickly run down the list of what occurred on this particular Monday, shall we?
- With the inauguration moved into the Capitol Rotunda because of frigid weather, the usual constitutional officers — senators, officials, congresspersons, governors — were relegated to the back rows, or even off site at an overflow area. In the front row were a collection of Bros, the petty assholes who have led us to this idiocracy of oligarchs. Not just people like Mark Zuckerberg or Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos, but reprehensibles like Logan Paul (!) and Joe Rogan(!) were right there in front… along with Tim Cook, who looked ill-at-ease, to his credit, and yet still covered head to toe in the stink he’s bought into.
- Trump didn’t bother to put his hand on the Bible, held by his wife in incognito drag; and followed that up with a speech claiming to be a religious man who was saved by God.
- His speech was, predictably and unremarkably, a fussilade of lies.
- Then came the executive orders. Evidently the Trump cabal believes that the President has unlimited power — more so than even a king — to just order things to happen. Sadly, in the current era it seems that no one has the temerity to challenge that view.
- Pardons of nearly every January 6th insurrectionist, including those who attacked and harmed — and by their actions, killed — law enforcement officers.
- A dictat saying that the government shall not recognize any gender other than male or female, and only those assigned at birth.
- Cancelation of all fuel efficiency, EV, and charger funding rules.
- Removal of the United States from the Paris Climate Accords.
- Deleted Spanish-language versions of the White House website and social media; as well as the government site for reproductive rights.
- Removed the United States from the World Health Organization.
- Directed that the White House can unilaterally bestow security clearances on a whim to anyone it wants.
- Ordered that children born in this country to undocumented immigrants no longer shall be issued citizenship — a direct transgression of the Constitution.
- Reinstated his previous executive order that allows a purge of the Federal workforce that can be used to remove anyone not loyal to the cabal.
- An order against “weaponization” of the judicial system, which, of course, is going to do the opposite.
- An order claiming to do away with “federal censorship” which, of course, only means against the misinformation he approves of.
- Halted leasing and approval for wind turbines.
- Rescinded Biden’s census order, clearing a paath for reshaping election maps
- Federal employees who have been working from home must now return to the office, where I’m sure they will be scrutinized for their loyalty.
- A freeze on issuing any regulations.
- A freeze on Federal hiring.
- Marco Rubio was confirmed by the Senate as Secretary of State. MARCO RUBIO.
- The Pentagon removed the portrait of General Mark Milley from the corridor of generals’ portraits.
- Cecile Richards, the daughter of Ann Richards and the former leader of Planned Parenthood, died at 67.
- Drunken rapist Pete Hegseth’s nomination for Defense Secretary was sent to the full Senate.
- And to cap off a marvelous day, Elon Musk threw Nazi salutes to the crowd at Trump’s delorables party. Even the Anti-Defamation League is giving him a pass claiming it was “an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm.”
And that was only the major highlights.
By the way, it was also Martin Luther King, Jr. day.
