Is nothing sacred?

The nuns of the Missionaries of Charity are seeking to copyright the name of their founder, Mother Teresa.
Evidently, this action is being taken because of the use of her name by various organizations without permission. I can imagine that it must be used by some shady groups seeking donations.
The point that this brings up is this – not only are we in America exporting our culture and products to the world, but also our penchant for lawyers. The rest of the world is always astonished at the way we sue for things that to them are common sense; the way we trademark common words and patent natural organisms. We are a society obsessed with protecting what’s ours, and that instinct is only matched by our willingness to cheat someone out of what’s theirs.
Caution, the coffee you’re about to enjoy is extremely hot.
