Looks like the weatherman wars are starting up again here in D.C.: WJLA-TV is now promoting something called the Snow Machine, which purports to show, on a street level basis, where snow is falling and where rain is falling.
This is approaching the ultimate in laziness, isn’t it? There is a window about 1 foot to the left of my television set. But I suppose it is far easier to turn on the TV and tune to channel 7 to see if it is snowing on my street – it’s certainly not simple to open the blinds and look outside myself.
That said, it must satisfy those of us who, when it snows, call up our friends and family and ask them, “Is it snowing there?”
