I have been staring at my new refrigerator for a full day now, chomping at the bit to put it through it’s paces. So, today I purchased a kit to hook up the ice maker system. After drilling holes here and there to route the piping into my downstairs bathroom – conveniently located beside the kitchen – I followed all the instructions to connect the pipe.
But it didn’t work well. After leaks here and there, spurts of water and the onset of a migraine, I’ve finally gotten it working mostly – it just leaks a tiny bit at the back of the refrigerator. I’ve begged my dad for help, and he’ll work on it a bit tomorrow. But for now, it’s working well enough that I have left it connected for the night to get a batch of ice made (which I then must throw out as it fills the lines and cleans out any impurities).
The first time a few ice cubes were finished and dropped into the bin, I realized that I hadn’t taken one important thing into account with this new appliance: the dog. He heard the clunks and then the hiss of the water being sucked up, and went nuts. I hope – for my sake and his – that he gets used to it!!
