Two little snippets I heard on the radio this afternoon on PRI’s The World: Dubya, who so recently boasted that al Queda was decimated, today said, and I quote, “nearly one half of al Queda senior operatives have been captured or killed.” Parse this a different way: there are still more al Queda operatives at large than have been captured or killed. A far cry from “decimated.”
Also, in a story about Iraq, this startling statistic: one-fifth of the garbage has been picked up. Think about this a moment: say your street has 20 houses, and after a month of no service, a trash truck comes by and picks up the trash… from only 4 of those houses.
Yeah, the American administration of Iraq is doing wonders.
