Is anyone else really dreading tonight’s campaign speech by President Bush?
I’m torn between not watching the speech in order to maintain my sanity — and therefore being out of the loop on the enemy — or watching it and throwing something through the screen of my expensive TV.
[Update 7:30pm: I’ve decided to watch a TiVoed episode of “The West Wing” instead, so I can dream of a country led by a progressive Nobel Prize winner who really cares. Then, a couple episodes of “Monarch of the Glen” to remind me that you can both honor tradition and create change.]
Hey, Gene, I’m torn too. Torn between not wanting to hear the conservative rhetoric and wanting to throughly know my enemy so I can better fight his agenda.
Let’s see, what’ve he and his cronies accomplished to “improve” our country:
1. Tried to make the population afraid of the world and then accused us of “unpatriotism” for questioning the war in Iraq and not wanting our legal freedoms taken away–sorta like making you buy car insurance “in case” you have an accident, then jacking the cost up so you can’t afford it……
2. Made it even harder for women to get an abortion…
3. Run our government into debt so huge that it can’t even be imagined, like trying to find the end of the known universe……
4. Tried to shove “faith” down the country’s throat by giving money to religious organizations for schools, etc….
Aren’t you sorry you got me started?
