I just thought this was amusing for no particular reason: the news helicopter of WNBC-TV in New York crashed on a rooftop. Luckily no one was seriously injured.
The photographiccoverage of the crash on WNBC is provided by their competitors, WCBS and WABC. Makes sense, given that WNBC’s camera was in pieces among the debris.
This is the third helicopter crash for WNBC, one was fatal. I’m on the record as being firmly against news helicopters, because they so rarely are of any use when it comes to gathering and presenting news, and the times when they might be useful they’re almost always causing more trouble — too many in the air, interfering with emergency responders, etc.
But even here in D.C., where much of the city is covered by a no-fly rule, the choppers are proliferating.
