Just As I Thought

They’ve got the power

Kirk forwarded a story to me about the Southern Baptists, who are leaving their “World Alliance” — they’re accusing the Alliance of being liberal, meaning that they are tolerant toward homosexuals and women.
There might have been a time, not so long ago, when I would find this shocking. Not today.
We are living in a horrible, divisive, and hate-filled time. I’m convinced of it.
I still believe that there are normal, good people in the world. But I think that they have been forced down, silenced, by a very vocal, powerful minority of ultra-conservative fundamentalists. In government, in business, and in religion.
How did these hate-filled wackos gain so much power? Why do good people sit back and do nothing as the fascists move up and hijack their churches and their government?
