I’m trying to begin a few days without political diatribes, without the stress of the Bush administration, without rants about what has happened to my country.
I’m not even going to write a big entry here about today’s report damning the intelligence community (yet curiously not the president who many think pushed for their findings) in their Iraq assessments.
No, I’m just going to quote Senate Intelligence Committee vice-chairman John Rockefeller, who succinctly has summed up the achievements of the Bush administration in a few short lines.
Then I’ll go back to planning a blissfully ignorant weekend.
“Our standing in the world has never been lower. We have fostered a deep hatred of Americans in the Muslim world, and that will grow. As a direct consequence, our nation is more vulnerable today than ever before.”
Yeah, we’re definitely safer having Bush and Cheney to protect us.
