Epson is converging — smashing together, really — television and printers. According to CNETAsia (via Lost Remote):
Consumers can soon look forward to printing product catalogues and magazines from their television sets, if Epson has its way.
Such convergence between televisions and printers is already happening in Japan, where Epson has a share in the Megaport digital broadcasting station, revealed the company at a recent press event in China.
The Megaport project, which also involves media organizations such as Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shinbun and publisher Kadokawa Shoten, produces television programs that combine broadcasts with printable contents. For example, a program has already been aired that includes a printable map. Alternatively, a viewer could watch a television commercial for a furniture shop, then immediately print out the product catalogue with the click of a button.
The only question I have is this: when the ink runs out, is it cheaper to buy a completely new TV rather than purchase ink cartridges?
So, let me get this straight. The first operator didn’t just walk off into the night. She just decided she didn’t want to drive THAT train any more?
How special.
