Vice President Cheney warned on Tuesday that if John F. Kerry is elected, “the danger is that we’ll get hit again” by terrorists, as the Bush campaign escalated a furious assault on the Democratic presidential nominee that has kept Kerry from gaining control of the election debate.
Is he actually saying that we won’t get hit again if Bush is president? Wow — that’s a very dangerous assertion. Setting aside the obvious problem that it’s not true, isn’t the Bush administration worried that such talk will make us ignore the warnings they trot out every time they need to divert our attention?
I wouldn’t be surprised if, as this line of fear mongering reaches a fever pitch, the administration created a crisis of such proportions that they cancelled the election and gave themselves another term. You know, like Pervez Musharraf.
