Wow – I wonder why the press hasn’t jumped all over this incredibly stupid yet prescient quote yet:
Bush senior adviser Matthew Dowd told reporters for Time and the New York Times that Kerry had to overcome his “likability” problem. “Do you want this person in your living room? . . . Until he solves that, the issue specifics don’t matter that much.”
Holy crap! This explains a lot. George Bush has tended to ignore every issue before this country during the campaign, spending his time instead having his staff blast John Kerry while he concentrates on appearing to be a nice guy you’d want in your living room. They are running a campaign devoid of substance, refusing to address the issues that affect our lives and our future as a nation.
You know what? I’ve never in my life had a president in my living room, and I’d warrant that 99.99% of all Americans could say the same. Frankly, I don’t want the president in my living room, I don’t have time to do that much cleaning.
I want a president who is in the White House (someplace Dubya is almost never to be found) who is concentrating on the specifics of the issues.
