So, I moved around my home webcams a little bit, moving the upstairs camera onto the shelf over my desk so people could actually see me; I moved the wireless downstairs cam over to my reading chair. It sits beside the fireplace, and it’s Diego’s spot of choice during the day.
I feel a little disappointed, because people are ignoring me at my desk and instead, watching Diego through the live stream. He’s just curled up there on the back of the chair, sleeping away… and as I write this, THREE people are watching him LIVE. Only one is watching me. I feel so… well, unattractive. There’s something weird happening when people just sit and watch animals sleep…
[Jan. 19: I don’t know why I didn’t figure this out before, but it turns out that a LOT of people have been watching the live streams from the cameras, which explains why I have so much trouble with my telephone — it’s a VOIP phone, and the cameras have been using up all my outbound bandwidth, making calls difficult. So, until some company figures out that I will gladly shovel out cash for decent upstream broadband, I’m turning off the streaming video from the cams. Sorry.]
I choose not to be photographed and I only have a web cam for family and friends. (and rarely use it)
I did go to an on-line chat room and was told turn on your web cam or get the hell out of this room.
I turned it on and aimed it at my dog sleeping on my bed and was amazed that 28 people would rather watch my dog sleep than cam with other people. And this was a…cough cough… Adult cam room. For reasons unclear to me no one complained? And I never did go on cam.
What is it with sleeping dogs?
