Oh Metro! clues us in on the real story behind those bizarre announcements we’re been hearing on Metrorail lately, muffled as they are:
Metro is now going to give us announcements using “light-hearted humor”. Example – Ladies and gentlemen, help wanted! Metro is looking for a few good people to move to the center of the rail cars. So do your part and help us fill these vacancies. This is funny? I am dying laughing. It will certainly be fun to hear these announcements when we are stuck waiting for a train and Metro has no idea at all where the next train is or when it is coming and, even if they do know, they are damned if they are going to tell us. Ha-bloody-ha. And how much did they pay for these gems of wit? Thousands, no doubt, as no-one working for Metro has the slightest sense of humor. Your Metrodollars at work. Now that is a joke.
One of the comments echoes my own experience:
I think I heard one the other day. It was a reminder to pick up stuff because “in a town like this, you never want to leave a paper trail.”
It’s good to know that Metro is just as good at comedy as they are at maintenance, timeliness, friendliness, efficiency, utility…
