Well, duh. Who doesn’t know that?
I took great pains years ago to sever my relationship with this horrible, horrible corporation; first by using third-party telephone companies (although the line was still owned by Verizon), and later by cutting the wire entirely by going to voice over IP telephony.
Unfortunately, they’re still the communications monopoly around here, and because I am having a new data line installed, it’s Verizon who connects the cables up.
I’ve been waiting all day for them to come connect the wire. It’s now 4:45pm, and my day has been wasted. I could have been at work — luckily I am not paid hourly, but if I was, Verizon would be owing me a day’s pay.
When I call Sears for repair, they gave me a two hour window for the appointment. Other service companies seem to be able to give me some idea of when they’ll be coming. Verizon? They just give you a day. And it seems that even that was too much of a stretch.
