With great trepidation, I began to watch the final episode of Wonderfalls this morning. The last five or so had a story arc running through them and when I watched the penultimate episode last night at 1am, I was terrified at what the last one might hold — knowing that there were no more to come, I was worried about the fate of the characters.
I’m happy to say, without giving anything away, that the final episode does wrap things up — not so much in a “finale” kind of way, but in bringing some things to a point where, well, they’re not necessarily concluded but they’re not suspended in mid-air anymore.
Anyway. It’s bittersweet, this last episode, knowing that some things are sort of settled in a way that I can let the lives of these characters rest in my head; and knowing that I will never find out more about them and see where their lives may lead.
I suppose it’s unlikely that Fox will resurrect the series because of good DVD sales, isn’t it?
Yeah. I guess. Then again, it’s a show about fate, about surrendering to destiny. Maybe Wonderfalls had to go away to come back again.
