This morning I was perusing the newly launched website for the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie, and downloaded a couple of screensavers — it’s unusual to see Mac screen savers, most of the time the marketing geniuses think it’s better to just get the Windows crowd.
But the instructions suspiciously said to put the file into my “Control Panels” folder. Guess what? The screensavers were made for a Mac system that has been out of date for nearly four years. That’s right, the screensavers were made for system 9, which hasn’t even been sold for years.
(For all you Windows people, this is like releasing software today that only runs on Windows 3.1.)
