Just when I was bemoaning my lonely existence, Jann and Mike showed up at my door this evening for an impromptu housewarming, with a bottle of sangria and… a Roomba! Wheeee!
It didn’t take long to figure out what effect it would have on the dog: he chased it and barked, then was chased by it. All the while, his tail was wagging. I think he’s found a new friend and adversary! Still, I don’t know if I would let the Roomba loose when Diego’s here alone — I don’t know who would win out in that confrontation, and besides, it’s too much fun to watch them.
The robot had only run for 5 minutes or so, but it already had a bunch of dust and dog hair in it’s filter. And this after I vaccuumed yesterday with a big machine.
What remains to be seen is how I will come to grips with having artificial intelligence cleaning my living room. Reminds me of that Elmer Fudd cartoon — remember? Soon, I’ll be bringing the upstairs down.
