Just As I Thought

First out of the gate

The war has begun: I just saw a commercial praising John Roberts with a call to action — tell your senator that Roberts deserves “a fair, up or down vote.”
Yes, that sounds fair. Of course, if there was no Republican majority you certainly wouldn’t hear calls for an up or down vote, right?
This process shouldn’t be easy and quick. The senate is not supposed to rubber-stamp the president’s desires, and when it comes to the judiciary — appointments made for life — the confirmation process of necessity should be arduous. Not uncivil — although I think you’ll find that the right wingers are far more uncivil than the left, and do their best to create an impression of the opposite.
I don’t trust George W. Bush, and I don’t trust Karl Rove and the other Machiavellian aides and cabal members who have chosen John Roberts. The press may think he is suitable, but I am waiting for yet another smoking gun.
