So, George W. Bush wants schools to reach “intelligent design.” Well, of course he does! Because it’s just another facet in the plan to create an American Fundamentalist Theocracy. But being America, people are still somewhat skittish of the religious takeover. How to fix that? Come up with some great marketable names. The Republicans — well, the ultra conservatives — have a terrific marketing genius at the helm, coming up with such terms as “intelligent design” (creationism); “death tax” (estate tax); and “Patriot Act” (curtailing of civil liberties). There are dozens more, all hiding their true plans under a layer of doublespeak and semantics.
This president, who has continually shown his contempt for science, wants children to believe that man was created only a few thousand years ago, fully formed. Consider that the National Park Service under this administration sells books at the Grand Canyon which claim that the huge canyon was created by God only a few thousand years ago.
If you have any Buddha sculptures around, you’d better hide them now — it’s only a matter of time before our new overlords decide that they should be blown up.
