Well, I’ll be damned.
Remember how, when I first moved in here, I complained about the once-a-week, only-what-fits-in-the-bin trash pickup?
It turns out that this is just fine.
I have a small trash bin and a large recycle bin, and the proportions turn out to be just right — I seem to be throwing out about one kitchen-size trash bag of garbage per week… and just slightly more in recyclables. I can only assume that 90% of what I threw out back in Arlington was recyclable, at least, under San Jose’s liberal definition. In this city, almost everything is included in recycling, including old clothes and the like.
So, while I am sucking down electricity and water like only an American can, I’m at least throwing out less garbage.
One step at a time, eh?
