Just As I Thought

Too good to be true?

Oh, boy — this must be a dream, right?

Cheney’s Office Is a Focus in Leak Case

As the investigation into the leak of a CIA agent’s name hurtles to an apparent conclusion, special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald has zeroed in on the role of Vice President Cheney’s office, according to lawyers familiar with the case and government officials. The prosecutor has assembled evidence that shows Cheney’s long-running feud with the CIA contributed to the unmasking of operative Valerie Plame.

… It is not clear whether Fitzgerald plans to charge anyone inside the Bush administration with a crime. But with the case reaching a climax — administration officials are braced for possible indictments as early as this week– it is increasingly clear that Cheney and his aides have been deeply enmeshed in events surrounding the Plame affair from the outset.

There’s no real word on whether Cheney himself would be targeted in the investigation; but my imagination is soaring with the hope that finally — albeit years late — the tactics of this White House will finally come to light.
What more will come out? The confirmation that Cheney, co-founder of the neo-con movement, was the creator of the concepts that led us to war with Iraq? That he was the instigator of the WMD boondoggle, that he pushed the CIA to create the false impression of an Iraqi threat? Of course, we all remember that he was the one who constantly pushed the idea that Iraq was behind September 11.
And don’t forget that he was the one who held secret meetings with energy industry executives in order to formulate the huge giveaway that is the energy legislation.
And what fun it would be if Cheney was gone, if Rove was gone… if Bush was left to actually be president on his won without the puppet masters… what entertainment that would be!

  • Great minds…

One of my birthday blog wishes was to see Cheney, Rove, Frist and DelAy in line for the guillotine (figuratively speaking, of course!) but not Bush, just to watch him flail.

I’m trying not to get my hopes up, what with the female reporter now ‘not remembering’ who told her the name (maybe she fears for her life?) but wouldn’t it be nice to see Cheney and Rove get their comeuppance…
