I know we, as a people, have fleeting memories; but try to think back about a week or so when far right conservatives everywhere were calling for the head of President Bush for daring to nominate Harriet Miers. Despite all the winking, nodding, and whispers from the White House indicating her conservative leanings, the right was having none of it, wanting instead a out-of-the-closet, in-your-face right winger who would do their bidding.
So I wonder, now, what those far right politicos think of the guest list for last night’s state dinner for the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall? For in attendance were Mary Cheney, daughter of the Vice President, and — gasp — her girlfriend, Heather Poe.
What does this mean? Is the Bush administration condoning homosexuality? Are they treating same-sex couples as married? Where is the right wing’s outrage?
