Just As I Thought

Yeah, I know it’s called karma

I had fun last week while the temps were in the 70s, and looked back on my years of DC snowfalls laughing.
And now:

Snow? It’s possible

OK, so the spring-like weather is over, but snow?

Yep. That’s what forecasters predict will fall Friday and Saturday down to 2,000 feet above sea level — in the mountains and hills around Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Jose.

And a few snowflakes closer to sea level won’t be out of the question in the Bay Area.

“It’s one extreme to the next,” said Diana Henderson, forecaster for the National Weather Service in Monterey.

When will I learn to keep my big mouth shut? Still, if it snows here I’ll be able to do my “aw, this is nothing” bit and describe what chaos would result from just one more inch.
Then again, I’m wondering how people here would react to a few inches of snow. Back home it snowed every year, but from the way people acted you’d think that it had never snowed before.

  • If it snows….STAY HOME

They haven’t a clue how to drive on ice and snow. The only safe place is home drinking hot cocoa and giving Diego kisses and treats.

  • If it ever does snow a millimeter in San Jose (which, btw, would, signal the end of the world) – be prepared to hear about 1293810294 car accidents on the freeways.

It’s bad enough that there’s 646905147 accidents during the first rain of the year. 🙁

That said, Baltimore/DC didn’t respond too well to the 1996 Blizzard. A mere 22 inches of snow and they called out the National Guard. On the other thand, that was the one I time felt safest to walk around in Baltimore!

  • I landed at BWI the day of the “noreaster” and was just fine. Other flights after me were cancled so I got in just under the wire.
I stayed in the Brandywine area and I have to say that it wasn’t to bad. I did most my traveling on 301 in a mini-van and had no problems.
From all acounts (this time) the response was pretty good. Then agian it was the first big fall of the year so I suppose they were poised and ready with lots of salt.
