Apple uses one of those voice recognition call attendants, so when I called today to complain about the problems with my MacBook Pro, I only got as far as the part where the guy asks what product I am calling about. Seems that the MacBook is so new, they don’t have it in the voice recognition system.

The Yellow Line of Death
My local Target is littered with the dying hulks of shopping carts which suddenly stop working when taken past the yellow line. A yellow line which is, in some places, mere yards from the entrance.

Just keep hitting “0” and/or saying ‘operator’ I have to do it with Xerox. There was a great story about this on Morning Edition a few weeks ago about bypassing those voice systems. I hate them; I have a low voice and they never understand me.
