It seems that someone has solved the San Jose Semaphore code. (Semaphore is an art installation here in San Jose that is sending out coded messages as a challenge to code breakers.)
However, as if to frustrate us, the solution is not being released until ten codebreakers submit the cracked code; if this doesn’t happen the solution will be announced in August.
San Jose Semaphore’s code has been cracked! Two research scientists from the San José area submitted their solution on September 8, 2006. The challenge remains open for runners up; the solution and the identities of all successful code-breakers will be revealed after the 10th correct solution has been received, or on August 7, 2007 (one year after the transmission began), whichever comes first.
