Just As I Thought

But who’s counting?

What a long, strange trip it’s been: this Saturday’s episode of Doctor Who will be the 727th episode since the series began in 1963 — and it marks an interesting milestone.

What a long, strange trip it’s been: this Saturday’s episode of Doctor Who will be the 727th episode since the series began in 1963 — and it marks an interesting milestone. This episode, entitled “Gridlock,” will mark the day that Doctor Who surpassed Star Trek in the sheer number of episodes.
Well, I say Star Trek, but I really mean the entire Star Trek franchise. So, it’s five different television series, all combined, versus one television series and its revival. All told, the Star Trek series added up to 726 episodes. As of Saturday, Doctor Who will have racked up 727 episodes. Cripes. 727 episodes?!
I have a feeling that Doctor Who will probably never surpass Star Trek in the budget department, however.

Don’t celebrate yet: if Saturday afternoon football runs over, the BBC will be postponing the episode until next week…
