Take a look at this shocking graphic from Reuters. It shows the history of the U.S. budget surplus/deficit since the Johnson administration. Note that the previous record deficits were under Reagan and Bush I. Bush II has exceeded even those, and took only 2 years to do it! Hell, within 4 years of taking office, Clinton had completely wiped out the deficit!
Take a careful look at the three Democrat administrations on this graph. Notice the upswing of the line during those years, indicating that the Democrat was working to balance the budget. Then, take a look at where the line goes during each of the Republican presidencies. It plummets away from fiscal responsibility every time. Now I ask you, do we really think that Republicans are fiscally responsible and want smaller government? Where in the world did people ever get that impression?
