Just As I Thought

Don’t Mess with Texas Women

Wow — what an experience today!
We kicked off the day with incredible motivation: a rally with three fantastic Texas women. Sarah Weddington, who argued the Roe v. Wade case and won; Molly Ivins (love her), the great columnist; and former Texas governor Ann Richards, who really bowled me over. From there, we marched seemingly forever over to the Capitol. I was an honorary Texas Woman for the day, y’all.

There was a 7 year old waiting for us to come back, so we bailed out early after assembling and marching for about 5 hours, but we took a moment to go up into the Old Post Office Tower, where we got a glimpse of just one tiny segment of the march. While these people we marching on Pennsylvania Avenue below us, there were still many thousands behind them (and in front of them).

It was amazing, being among what they’re saying was nearly a million people, all agreeing on something.
