And completing the trifecta begun with last week comes the announcement of the death of John Vernon, the character actor who we’ve all seen dozens of times… but whose face became famous with his portrayal of the smarmy, nasty Dean Wormer from “Animal House.”

I am sorry he’s gone, perhaps his best was yet to come? But in a world full of great actors I just don’t see him near the top.
