According to the Washington Post, ExxonMobil is trying to downplay the horrific profit of last quarter by taking out newspaper ads and the like to “demonstrate its bottom-line modesty.” How? By saying that they don’t make as much money as companies in banking and pharmaceuticals.
Like we respect the restrained pricing models of those two industries. That’s like the bootlegger saying that he doesn’t make as much money as the loan shark and the drug dealer.
