Just As I Thought

Home is where your stuff is

Here I sit, in my little San Jose bungalow.
This is pretty weird. I’ve never lived in such an old, small house. I haven’t unpacked much yet, but I’m hopeful that it will fit. I was most worried about my bedroom furniture — and it fits as I thought it would, but there’s very little room left in my bedroom.
I can see that I will be one of those Californians that I’ve complained about, the ones who use their garage to store stuff rather than park a car there. In my own defense, I should point out that my garage is actually too small to park in, the car can fit with exactly two inches to spare, but I can’t open the door once I’m in there. Luckily, I have a driveway that’s long enough to accommodate three cars.
Well, I’m right on schedule: I told myself that I’d buy a place within 6 months, and I wanted either a loft or a little California bungalow. Ta-da! Here I am!
Of course, I also said that I’d have a high-paying job within 6 months.
Let’s let that one slide for now, I’ve really got enough stress right now.

  • Hi Gene!

    Welcome to the South Bay.

I found your commentary linked from Socialite’s Life, and noticed that you’ve recently taken up residence in South SJ (looks like Willow Glen-ish? Trying to Venn diagram the union of “bungalow” with “bird street”).

I’ll take this moment to recommend Jake’s Pizza which is right up the way!

For a good taco you can hit the “Taco Bueno” on Bascom! It’s a gringo taco, but damned tasty.

  • Thanks, Steven!
Actually, I’m north of Willow Glen in the Rose Garden area, just off The Alameda. I haven’t had much opportunity to poke around here yet, but since I am a stone’s throw from Santa Clara University, I should be able to find some good pizza places!
