Steve Jobs yesterday announced at a Cupertino City Council meeting that Apple is expanding — they’re going to build a new campus not far from the current one. I watched the video of the meeting, and made this Google Earth placemark of where it seems the new campus will be. There are actually already buildings there, so it will be interesting to see how long it takes to clear the property and start again… and what an Apple Campus of the 21st century will look like.
My prediction: this new campus will be the home not of Apple, but of an Apple spin-off company or subsidiary. I still say that the time is coming when Apple will split into divisions for music and media, computers, and home electronics.
