For the first time in my life, I am learning the value of joining frequent flyer clubs. Starting tomorrow, I’ll be starting a jetsetting lifestyle — this weekend, I’ll be back home in DC working on this year’s 48 Hour Film competition and getting little sleep. I’ll be lugging along a camera case and laptop, so I’m worried about the whole carry-on situation.
Next month, I’ll fly off to Austin for the release of “Motherlode“, the album I am honored to have played a small part in making a reality.
July sees me off to DC again for my sister’s wedding, and then August reverses the trend with people coming here for my (gulp) 40th birthday. (Invitations are in the mail.)
In September, I’m on yet another flight to DC for the DC Shorts Film Festival.
So far, nothing for the next couple of months, but I’m sure I’ll be winging my way home again for Christmas.
Yeah, there are lots of people who fly far more than this, but cross-country every month is a new (and very expensive) experience for me. And although last year when I flew, I did it in first class every time, this year I’m suffering from both a lack of employment and two large mortgages, so I’ll be flying crammed into a small seat, with no meal, in a metal tube going 3,000 miles. Good times.
Rack up enough frequent flyer miles, get “elite” status, and you’ll be able to upgrade to business or first class for cheaps.
