You know how I am about hypocrites, so let me just point out one tiny little fact before I bounce off to the zoo.
The administration’s (and the military’s) rule against showing the return of fallen soldiers is patently a bid to hide the true cost of war and keep public support high. In that instance they certainly did learn a lesson from Vietnam (although the larger lesson was lost if current events are any indication).
The fact that the White House is upset about the release of photos of flag-draped coffins being treated with utmost respect in military transport planes is disingenuous at best.
Remember that the Bush campaign is running commercials that feature footage of flag-draped coffins coming out of the wreckage of the World Trade Center. They claim that this is a “historic event” so there’s nothing wrong with exploiting that footage for political purposes.
Almost every day there’s something about this administration that makes me googly-eyed and totally bewildered… at both the Bushies and the people who believe and defend them.
