Spent the afternoon on Saturday hiking, walking around (or more accurately, up and down) the Stanford foothills. From the top of these hills, once can see the tall buildings of San Francisco and all the way up the bay to Emeryville; in the other direction is Silicon Valley and San Jose’s downtown surrounded by incredible sprawl.
It was a three mile (or so) path through the hills, accompanied by numerous ground squirrels, birds of prey hovering above, a few cranes, some cows, and a cute guy.
At the top of the hills was a strange juxtaposition, one that could only serve to illustrate the duality of California — the huge Stanford Dish, surrounded by grazing cows…
